About the Dividend Stocks Under $10 list

This list covers dividend-paying stocks trading below ten dollars a share. The appeal is straightforward — a small account can build a position in whole shares, and the arithmetic of reinvesting dividends is tidier when a quarterly payment buys a meaningful fraction of a share.

It is worth being clear that share price on its own carries no information about value. A ten-dollar stock is not cheap and a five-hundred-dollar stock is not expensive; price per share reflects how many shares a company has chosen to issue, nothing more. What a low share price does correlate with, statistically, is smaller company size and higher volatility, and at the very low end it correlates with companies that have fallen a long way.

That makes the payout ratio and market cap columns particularly worth reading here. A high yield on a low-priced small-cap is the configuration most likely to precede a dividend cut, because it often means the market has already concluded the current payment cannot hold. We exclude companies that have stopped paying entirely, but no screen can flag a cut that has not been announced yet.

Methodology

Includes US-listed dividend payers with a latest close under $10 and a market capitalisation above $50 million, ranked by trailing twelve-month yield. The market-cap floor removes microcaps where pricing is unreliable and dividends are rarely sustained. Exchange-traded funds and mutual funds are excluded.
